Fish Species in the Kasilof River

  1. King Salmon (Chinook)

    • Run Timing:
      • Early run: Late-May to late June (Hatchery  King Salmon)
      • Late run: July (Wild King Salmon)
    • Fishing Style: Drift boats are the most common method, with back-trolling and bait fishing being highly effective.
  2. Sockeye Salmon (Reds)

    • Run Timing: Late June through July.
    • Details: Sockeye are highly prized for their fighting spirit and delicious meat. The Kasilof offers excellent opportunities to target them.
    • Fishing Style: Bank fishing with a method know as flossing or flipping.
  3. Silver Salmon (Coho)
